Alice Irene (Andrus) Colwell

ELMIRA,NY- Alice Irene (Andrus) Colwell, 84, of Sayre and formerly of Ridgebury Township, PA passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. A graveside committal service for Irene's family will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Ashland Cemetery, Wellsburg, NY with her pastor, Rev. Alan Bill officiating. The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with the arrangements. Irene was born on April 12, 1924 in East Smithfield, PA. She was the daughter of the late Roe Andrus and Alice (Sturdevant) Andrus Doty. Irene was a Troy High School graduate. She was a former employee of the Remington Rand Corp. and retired from LRC Electronics. Irene was a member of Lockwood United Methodist Church and volunteered her time at St. Josephs Hospital. Irene is survived by her sisters Estella Conrad of Elmira, NY and Esther Shilling of Lockwood, NY, her sister-in-law Joyce Colwell of Ridgebury Township, PA, numerous nieces and nephews, and very good friends that made her life happy, Irene is predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband of 36 years Harold A. Colwell, who passed away on April 26, 1982, her seven month old infant daughter, Linda Lou Colwell, who passed away on July 31, 1947, and her brothers William, George, and Robert Andrus. The family will be providing the flowers. In leau of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Irene's memory to the charity of one's own choosing.
