WILLIAMSPORT - Albert Henderson, 90, died on Monday, June 13, 2011 at Manor Care South. Albert was born in Orangeburg, SC on September 2, 1919 and was the son of the late Norman and Sudie (Whaley) Henderson. He was married to the late Ruth Mae “Jayne” (Baer) Henderson. Albert was a graduate of Williamsport High School. He was a local athlete, coached teams, played softball for Pickelners and was a running back in the 1930’s. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp and served during WWII in India. He had worked and retired from Bethlehem Steel after working over 40 years. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, United Steelworkers Union, Elks, Chartered member of the Edgar Stills Lodge 207, Board of Directors of the Bethune Douglas Center and was on the bowling team with Bethune Douglas Community Center under the direction of P.D. Mitchell as well as being a member of other fraternal organizations. Albert is survived by one son; David L. Henderson of Williamsport, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one son-in-law; Michael Payton of West Chester and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son; Albert R. “Skeeter” Henderson, one daughter; Sandra Payton and one sister; Anna Ruth Baity. There will be a public viewing from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport, where the funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Joseph Walker will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. There will be a repast following the burial at the Shiloh Baptist Church, 433 Walnut St., Williamsport, PA.
