Alan M. Hassett, Sr.

Al passed in peace Monday, March 23, 2015 at the age of 76. Born June 13, 1938 in Rochester, NY to Donald and Marguerite (Drum) Hassett, Al was a graduate of East Durand High School, attended the University of Buffalo and was a longtime York County resident. As a young man Al developed a lifelong passion for music. He was a former member of the York County and York barbershop choruses. He was also an active member of the Keystone Capital Chorus and the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church choir. In addition to his musical talents Al was also a close friend of Bill’s. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers David and Timothy Hassett, son Andrew and beloved wife Noel (Sampson) Hassett. He leaves his son Alan and wife Melissa; son Donald and partner Rick; son Daniel and wife Loretta; daughter Lorraine and husband Richard Snyder and many close friends. He was a loving grandfather to, A.J. and Kendra Snyder; Jason, Cameron and John Hassett; and Steven and Matthew Bresnahan. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 AM Saturday, April 25, 2015 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church 1502 Fourth Avenue, York. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to St Andrews Vestry. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements.
