WILLIAMSPORT - Alan H. Demel, 62, died on Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. Alan was born on May 16, 1948 in Elizabeth, NJ and was the son of the late David Demel and Helen (Wolf) Demel Margolis. He had graduated in 1966 from Williamsport High School, and then received his Bachelors from Norwich University. On November 26, 1977, he married the former Jeri A. (Goldfeder) who survives and celebrated 33 years of marriage. He had worked at Mid Penn Magazine Agency and Keystone Advertising Specialties. Alan was a member of Congregation Ohev Sholom. He was a past board member and past president Ohev Sholom, Williamsport Country Club, National Council of Christians and Jews and Williamsport Rotary. He was a past president of the Williamsport Chapter of Bnai Brith, and Williamsport Federation of Jewish Charities. Alan was a 32nd degree Mason in Burlington, Vermont as well as a member of the DeWitt Clinton Lodge 15 in Northfield, Vermont. For the past 22 years, he was the chairman of the Dinner of Champions, for the purpose of raising money for local charities. He was also a vice president and treasurer of the Atlantic Coast Independent Distributors Association. In addition to his wife, Jeri, Alan is survived by two daughters; Dr. Stacie L. Demel and Julie M. Demel, both of Pittsburgh and one sister and brother-in-law; Arlene and Martin Wolf of Deerfield Beach, Florida. The funeral service was held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport with his spiritual leader Rabbi Shaul Rappeport officiating. Burial followed in Ohev Sholom Cemetery. In keeping with the Jewish tradition, there was no viewing or flowers.
