RED LION- Agnes (Hughes) Popp, 89, formerly of East Hartford, CT passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Popp, to whom she was married for 62 years. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on December 1st at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1502 4th Ave. in York. The Reverend David Bateman will be the officiant at the service. Her ashes will be buried in the Ash Garden at St. James Episcopal Church in Glastonbury, CT at a later date. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is assisting the family with the arrangements. Agnes was born in Albany, NY on October 3, 1929, the daughter of the late Morton Lee and Marion (Wade) Hughes. Her family moved to Hartford, CT in 1944. Agnes attended the University of Connecticut, where she met her husband, Bob. Family was very important to her, and she spent much of her time caring for others. During her 56 years in East Hartford, she was very involved in volunteer work with the East Hartford Women’s Club, the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, and her church. She was a member of St. James’ Episcopal Church in Glastonbury, CT and has been attending St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in York since 2009. She enjoyed playing Mah Jong and being a member of the book club at Equine Meadows. She was on the Altar Guild and also a member of the book club at St. Andrew’s. Agnes is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan P. and William Reardon of York; three grandchildren, Kathleen, Lee Ann, and William Reardon; a cousin, Carol Nowlan; nephews, Timothy and Matthew Hughes (Stephanie Kloss); a niece, Sara Hughes (Ryan Gates), and five great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother M. Wade Hughes and his wife Ann. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1502 4th Ave., York, PA 17403.
