Ada Mable Sample

LOCK HAVEN - Ada Mable (Engle) Sample, 81 a former resident of Castanea passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 at Susque-View. She was born Sept., 29, 1933 in Pine Creek a daughter of the late Abraham and Eleanor (Rider) Engle. Ada was married 57 years to Vernon P. Sample who died December 23, 2008. She worked as a housekeeper for the McKnight, Williamson and Maguire families. Ada enjoyed baking and sewing. Surviving are two sons Terry (June) Sample of Lock Haven and Steve (Donna) Sample of Castanea and two daughters Marilyn (Jim) Gill and April (Terry) Butler both of Mill Hall. 19 grandchildren 48 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren. One brother Paul Engle of Avis and a sister Lois Engle of Lock Haven. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a son Vernon P. Sample, Jr., two daughters Linda Nyman and Bonnie Lucas also a grandson Paul Allen Darby and a great-great granddaughter Mariah Ann Minihan. Also preceded in death by three sisters Geraldine Saulder, Helen Bryan and Barbara Engle and four brothers Dave, William, Randall “Tim” and George “Gabby”. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be private at Dunnstown Cemetery. Helt Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.
