Abner 'Ab' L. Holtzman

York – Abner ‘Ab’ L. Holtzman, 59, passed away at home on Friday, May 1, 2020. He was the husband of Betsy I. (Ort) Holtzman, to whom he was married for 28 years. Born on April 25, 1961 in York, he was a son of the late Nancy L. (Smith) and Harry R. Holtzman, Jr. He was a graduate of West York High School and spent his life working at Magnesita Refractories. He was with the company for 34 years before retiring in 2019. Ab enjoyed camping with Bets and his dogs, Ben & Bella. He loved traveling to different beaches. His favorite memories were camping with the family. He enjoyed going to the gym and competed in a few bodybuilding competitions in his younger days. Abner is survived by daughter, Melissa Johnson; two grandchildren, Alex and Aden Johnson; brother, William E. Holtzman and wife, Tina; three sisters Annie Henshaw and husband, Brian, Christine Holtzman and Karen E. Banks and husband, Sing; father-in-law, Harold Ort; three sisters-in-law, Sally Miller and husband, Steve, Patsy Harner and husband, Scott and Sandy Grimes and husband, Jim; brother-in-law, Terry Ort and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by brother Raymond Holtzman; step-sister Marie Knaub and mother-in-law, Eva Ort. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
