DOVER- Aaron James Groendyk, 18, died Monday June 30, 2014 at University of Maryland Shock and Trauma Unit. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York. Deacon Dan Bernardy will be officiating at the service. Visitation will be held Sunday, from 5-8 p.m. and Monday from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Suburban Memorial Gardens in Dover. Aaron was born in York on August 10, 1995, the son of Pamela M. (Kuritz) Groendyk of Dover and her companion, Mark W. Bartels of York and Fred J. Groendyk of Muskegon, Michigan. He enjoyed riding his dirt bike, working on his car, and gaming. Aaron leaves two sisters, Mercedie M. Groendyk of Dover and Lexus M. Groendyk of Muskegon, Michigan; grandparents, Thomas J. and Nancy J. Kuritz, Sr. of Chestnut Ridge, PA, a grandfather, Fred A. Groendyk of Muskegon, Michigan; two aunts Amy Kurtz and her husband, Jim of York and Deborah Woods and her husband, Scott of Orrstown; an uncle Thomas J. Kuritz and his wife Lora of Farmington, PA; six cousins, Ivan, Emily, Nevin, Nathan, Hannah, and Tyler; and a long time childhood friend Matt Kraft of York. He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Anna Groendyk. Memorial Contributions may be made to Presley Ridge, 141 East Market Street, York, PA 17401.
