FELTON- A. Rodney "Butch" Tyson, 71, died at his home Friday, April 18, 2008. He was the husband of Wanda J. (Grim) Tyson. A Funeral Tribute service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday April 23, 2008 at St. Paul's (Lebanon) Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6955 Rippling Run Rd., Felton. Viewings will be held from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion and from 9 to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery. Rodney was born December 7, 1936 at his home in Felton, a son of the late Pius H. and Margaret E. (Mitzel) Tyson. He was a class of 1955 graduate of Red Lion Area High School where he was the Class President and on the National Honors Society. Rodney played Junior and Varsity baseball for the Lions. Later he played with the Susquehanna Twilight league. He was self-employed until retiring two weeks ago as an interior/ exterior painter and paperhanger. Rodney was an avid hunter, fisher, and camper. He belonged to the Isaac Walton League and was a Wallace-Cross Mill Guide. Rodney was also a former member of the Stewartstown Promenaders Square Dance Club. In addition to his wife, Wanda, Rodney is survived by two daughters, Sherry Tyson and her companion, Anthony Machulcz of Red Lion, Bonnie and her husband, Steven Pippin of Stewartstown; a son, Dale and his wife, Jo Anne Tyson of Red Lion; five grandchildren, Zebulun, J. Levi, Rachel, J. Candice, and Alan P.; three brothers, H. Vernon Tyson and his wife, Erma of Red Lion, W. Richard and his wife, Delores Tyson of Brogue, and G. Robert Tyson of Felton; and three sisters, Betty Tyson of Felton, M. Jean Sidestricker of Dallastown, and Shirley Dunlap of York. Two brothers, B. Herbert and John M. Tyson and two sisters, Nancy Knaper and Lorraine Tyson, precede him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's (Lebanon) Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6955 Rippling Run Rd., Felton, PA 17322.
