Ruth (Miner) Kosteva

WILKES-BARRE-Ruth (Miner) Kosteva, 77, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday, December 2, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born on May 16, 1932 she was the daughter of Archie W. and Mary (Tabb) Miner. She was a graduate of E.L. Meyer's High School. She worked as a retail sales clerk at The Boston Store and as a bank teller. Ruth was a member of Albright United Methodist Church where she served on the Board of Trustees. Previously she had been a member of Parrish St. Methodist Church, and was a member of the choir. She was also very involved with the American Legion, where she was a secretary of Shawnee Post 463 Ladies Auxiliary, Plymouth. Ruth was also a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary, No. 1425, where she served as an auditor. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kosteva, her brothers, William Miner, Ronald Miner, and Robert H. Miner, and sisters Hazel Marshall and Margaret Modrovsky. She is survived by her sister, Eudora Alexis, Kingston; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, December 5, at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre PA, 18701 with Reverend Brima of Albright United Methodist officiating. Internment will follow at Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas. Friends may call from 4-7pm on Friday, December 3, at the funeral home. The V.F.W and American Legion Ladies Auxillary of Plymouth will celebrate their service at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross Wyoming Valley Chapter, 256 N. Sherman St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702 or Albright United Methodist Church, Dana Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702
