YORK- Roger L. Shotzberger, 82, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Lebanon. He was the husband of Rita A. (Urey) Shotzberger. The couple celebrated 62 years of marriage this past June. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, October 23, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 250 Trinity Road, York, with Pastor Paul Gaussman officiating. A visitation will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service. Burial will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Born June 11, 1935 in Selinsgrove, PA, Roger was the son of the late William Ross and Francis (Zechman) Shotzberger. He worked as a maintenance electrician with DuPont for many years until his retirement. Mr. Shotzberger served our country in the United States Air Force for eight years during the Korean War. He was a member of Civil Air Patrol. He also enjoyed Ham radios, operating with the handle “XK3VLC”. In addition to his wife, Rita, Mr. Shotzberger is survived by two sons, Paul K. Shotzberger of Charlotte, NC, and William Robert Shotzberger of Selinsgrove; two daughters, Kathy Patterson (Modesto “Tito” Morales) of York, and Karen Starner (Clay) of LaPlata, MD; five grandchildren, Curtis and Kris Starner, Ashlee Goldman, and John and Luke Shotzberger; a great granddaughter, Solara Goldman; numerous cousins, including John and Steve Boop of York, and Monty Snyder of CA, and an aunt, Frieda Boop of York. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by three children, Debbie Rae, Vickie Lynne and Kimberly Sue.
