Robert S. Wilhelm

Dover—Robert S. Wilhelm Jr., 70, died Thursday, January 3, 2008 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Darlene (Zimmerman) Wilhelm to whom he was married for 44 years. A celebration of life service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, January 6, 2008 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2121 Roosevelt Ave, York, with his pastor, the Rev. Skip Nizinski officiating. A visitation will be from 1:30-3:00 p.m., Sunday, at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Wilhelm was born November 8, 1937 in York, a son of the late Mildred C. (Ruth) and Robert S. Wilhelm Sr. He graduated from York High School in 1957 and shortly after enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He was a small business owner of Wilhelm's Welding, which he operated for 28 years, until he retired in 1999. An avid Penn State Nittany Lion Football Fan, he also loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. For numerous years he sponsored Wilhelm's Welding Bowling Team at Colony Park Lanes. In addition to his wife, Mr. Wilhelm is also survived by four daughters, Kathy A. Wilhelm of Dover, Debbie L. Harberger of North Carolina, Susan Y. Zirkle of Dover, and Elizabeth D. Robison of Enola, nine grandchildren, Josh, Amy, Robert, Kainan, Christopher, Mandie, Erica, Alex, and Matthew, five great grandchildren, Joshua, Elyce, Garrett, Anella, Giulio, and Antonia, one brother, Richard E. Wilhelm of Fla., one sister, Ginny M. Wantz of York and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Cecelia Hanna and one brother, Walter K. Wilhelm.
