GLEN ROCK- Phillip Terry Whitacre, 69, of Springfield Twp., died Monday, September 8, 2014 at his residence. He was the husband of Raelyn Aster (Baublitz) Whitacre. The couple celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on March 16, 2014. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion. Pastor Howard Edmondson and Dr. Bob LaForce will be officiating at the service. Viewings will be from 7-9 p.m. today and 1-2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by Dallastown American Legion. Mr. Whitacre was born in York on September 15, 1944, the son of the late Oscar Young and Glada Lee (Eaton) Whitacre. He retired from Precision Components Corporation in York after 18 years, where he was a master welder. Mr. Whitacre attended Family of God Community Church in Red Lion, and was a member of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Union Local #01403. He enjoyed taking care of his farm, had a love for horses, and enjoyed spending time and helping family and friends. He was a good handyman, especially with welding and working on cars. Mr. Whitacre leaves a son, Phillip John Whitacre and his wife Jennifer of Glen Rock; two daughters, Michelle Lee Thomas and her husband, Matt of Loganville and Greta Rena Whitacre of York; four grandchildren, Maddy and Riley Thomas and Brandon and Brayden Whitacre. A sister, Barbara A. Miller had preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to Family of God Community Church, 147 First Ave., Red Lion, PA 17356.
