WILLIAMSPORT- Michael B. Ilniski, Jr. of Williamsport, PA passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Sycamore Manor in Williamsport. He was the husband of Mary A. (Guy) Ilniski. The couple married November 3, 1956 and had 54 years together. Michael was born on May 18, 1929 in Williamsport, son of the late Michael B. and Wilhelmina (Kowal) Ilniski, Sr. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving his country with the 328th Bomber Squadron, 93rd Bombardment Group on a B50 Bomber as the crew chief. Michael served in both the U.S. and England during the Korean War and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge. After, Michael returned to Williamsport and began his work at Trextron where he helped assemble airplane engines until his retirement in 1991. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his cabin in French Settlement. Michael was a member of the American Legion, Sheriff’s Association, and was Catholic by faith. Michael is survived by his wife Mary, his daughter Kimberly Ann Malcolm of Ft. Meyers, FL, his son Gary Ilniski of Williamsport, 8 grandchildren, his brother Walter (Alva) Ilniski of San Bernardino, CA, his sisters Madeline Williams of Linden, PA and Nellie Cayer of Miami, FL, along with many nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his son Michael B. Ilniski, III, his brothers and sisters along with their spouses: Joe, John, Helen, Mary and William, Anne, Stanley and Jean. The Mass of Christian Burial for Michael will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Ascension Catholic Church 2111 Linn Street Williamsport, PA with Rev. Fr. David Bechtel officiating. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery with military honors given by the Williamsport Korean War Veterans Honor Guard. The Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, Inc., 331 Elmira Street, Williamsport, PA has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
