WILKES-BARRE-Melvin E. Shaw, Sr., 75, of Wilkes-Barre went to heaven, Thursday, December 27, in the loving arms of his wife with his whole family at his side. He was a patient in General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre, June 5, 1932, he was the son of the late William L. and Martha (Feist) Shaw and a graduate of Meyers High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran where he served in the Korean Conflict and was a Purple Heart recipient. Prior to his retirement, Melvin was a supervisor at Coca Cola, Co., Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of Albright United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Burn Ridge Hunting Club. Melvin was preceded in death by his granddaughter Kimberly Ann Shaw in 2005. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years, the former Betty Jean Stucker; sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Deborah Shaw, Jr., Wilkes-Barre, Ron and Jane Shaw, Port St. Lucie, FL; grandchildren, Katherine Shaw, Cupertino, CA, Melvin E Shaw, III, Columbus, OH, Sarah Jane Shaw, Jacksonville, FL, Ronald Jarod Shaw, Orlando, FL; great grandchildren, Marissa, Christian, Emma and Adonis; and a brother, William Shaw, Wilkes-Barre. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Reverend Dr. James L. Harring and Reverend Patrice H. Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to the Kimberly A.
