YORK - Marian A. [Gray] Hedgepeth, 79, died Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehab Center. She was the wife of the late Wiley B. Hedgepeth. A celebration of life service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 15, 2007 in the John Calvin Memorial Chapel at First Presbyterian Church of York, 225 East Market Street, York with her pastor, the Rev. Dr. John E. Morgan officiating. A visitation will be from 10-11 AM Thursday in the Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born September 30, 1927 in Towson, MD a daughter of the late Napoleon B. and Rena [Clark] Gray, she had been a teacher with Head Start; worked as a nurse at York Hospital; and most recently she was a volunteer foster grandparent for Community Progress Council. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was a Deacon and served with the Caring Company. She also was a board member for York Day Nursery, served on the Board of Diversity for Girl Scouts of America; and was a former President for AARP Chapter 3060. Mrs. Hedgepeth is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Hedgepeth of York; a son, Stephen O. Hedgepeth of York; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a brother, Wallace Gray of Baltimore, MD. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of York, c/o Organ Fund, 225 E. Market St., York, PA 17403 or to Open Door Christian Fellowship, 155 S. Hartley St., York, PA 17404.
