Margaret A. Hamberger

YORK-Margaret A. “Peggy” (Shepherd) Hamberger, 96, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Rest Haven in York. She was the wife of the late Rodger E. Hamberger. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 161 North Main Street in Red Lion, with a visitation from 10-11 a.m. Her pastor, The Reverend David Tietje will be officiating at the service. Burial will be private in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York. Peggy was born in York on January 24, 1921, the daughter of the late Sidney and Margaret (Everett) Shepherd. She retired in 1982 from York Township Elementary School, where she worked as a cook in the cafeteria for 15 years. Peggy was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Red Lion. Peggy leaves a son, Keith S. Hamberger and his wife Rebecca of York; a daughter, Sallie A. Shepherd of York; four grandchildren, Leigh Ness, Corey Hamberger, Julie Myers, and Scott Hamberger; three step grandchidren, Joe, Justin, and Jordan Heidler; nine great grandchildren; eight great, great grandchildren; a sister, Madeline “Boots” Fitzgerald of York. She was preceded in death by a son, Rodger M. Hamberger and three sisters, Dorothy Sampedro, Jean Harrold, and Helen Bruggeman.
