Karl H. Zimmermann

York—Karl H. Zimmermann, 86, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Barbara J. (Flagg) Zimmermann. He attended Mt. Zion United Church of Christ. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in May at Hillcrest Cemetery, Springfield, Massachusetts. Born July 14, 1930 in Passaic, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Erich K. and Jeanette A. (Hunter) Zimmermann. After graduating high school, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Recreation & Youth Leadership from Springfield College (Massachusetts). A United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, his career included positions as Executive Director of Junior Achievement of York County and as a Hospital Administrator with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He also volunteered at York Hospital, the York County Area on Aging and the Community Progress Council for numerous years following retirement. Mr. Zimmermann is survived by one son, Eugene K. Zimmermann and his wife, Mary of Washington, NJ; one daughter, Jeannette H. Fellows and husband, Mark of Warwick, MA; 5 grandchildren, Molly Spatcher of Longmeadow, MA, Maggie Fellows of Warwick, MA, Eric Zimmermann of Trenton, NJ, Rachel Zimmermann of Riverside, CA and David Zimmermann of Washington, NJ.
