Joseph C. Covner

YORK- Joseph C. Covner, 87, formerly of Youngwood, died, Saturday, August 25, 2012 in York. He was the husband of the late Jessie Marie (Tompkins) Covner. A Memorial Service will be held at noon on Friday, August 31, 2012 at Vaia Funeral Home, Inc., 463 Athena Drive in Delmont, PA (724) 468-1178. Family and friends will be received from 11:00a.m.-noon on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Twin Valley Cemetery & Chapel Mausoleum. Mr. Covner was born in Mt. Pleasant on October 6, 1924, son of the late George and Anna (Feroncuk) Cerkovnik. He retired in 1981 from General Tire and Rubber in Jeannette, PA. He served in the US Marine Corps during WWII. Mr. Covner leaves three daughters, Joyce C. Bouchard and her husband David of Frederick, MD, Janyce C. Jorgensen and her husband Richard of Jacobus, and Joanne E. Watkiss and her husband Bradley of Ruffsdale, PA; three grandchildren, Mark Jorgensen, Leah Jorgensen, and Karina Bouchard; and three sisters, Paula Cerkovnik of Mt. Pleasant, Elaine Cerkovnik of Mt. Pleasant, and Ceil Golobish of Indianapolis, IN. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the local arrangements.
