Renovo - Edward F. Wenzel, Jr. 85 of Shintown, died at Williamsport Hospital on Tuesday, June 24, 2008. He was born in Cross Fork on May 26, 1923, son of the late Edward F. Sr. and Christina (Wingeret) Wenzel. Ed worked as a conductor/brakeman for the Pennsylvania railroad and Conrail for over 40 years. He was Methodist by faith, was a member and Past Master-4 terms- of the F. & A.M. Lodge #495, the Williamsport Consistory , was a former secretary of the D.A.V., Renovo American Legion, Renovo Elks, 40 + 8 Club, Tamarack Grange #1388, and F.E.M.A. Ed served on the Flaming Foliage Festival Committee for many years, was a Renovo Biddy League member and coach, and was a real "people person" who loved spending time with his family. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. During WWII, Ed served his country in the Army, and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Association. On August 11, 1998, Ed married the former Louise A. Hasara, who survives in Shintown. Also surviving is his son: Joseph R. (Linda) Wenzel Sr. of Shermans Dale, Pa, daughter: Terrie (Mark) Levatino of Pendleton, N. York, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sister: Dorothy Bhenke of Cannonsburg and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded by three sisters and four brothers. He is also survived by three step-sons Steven Schenck of Burlington, WV, Stanley (Terrie) Schenck and Vinton "Vinnie" Schenck, III both of Renovo. Memorial services will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 7th Street U.M. Church with Mrs. Martha Sykes officiating. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery in Hyner. Memorials are requested to Bucktail Medical Center, Renovo Area Public Library, or the Renovo Masonic Lodge #495. Maxwell Funeral Home of Renovo is in charge of the arrangements.
