York—Charles L. Hopwood, 69, died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at York Hospital, after a short illness. A celebration of life service will be held 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, with Deacon Neil A. Chrispo of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dallastown officiating. A viewing will be from 6-7 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, at 10 a.m., on Thursday, May 29th. Mr. Hopwood was born November 16, 1938 in York, a son of the late Lewis and Evelyn (Klunk) Hopwood. He was the founder of Hopwood Finishing in York. He was previously employed with McCrory's and Mailman's for many years, as store manager. He served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. Mr. Hopwood is served by three sons, Gregory C. Hopwood of Dover, Michael J. Hopwood of Mount Joy and Gary D. Hopwood of York, six grandchildren, two brothers, Bill Hopwood and Greg Hopwood, two sisters, Rita Roseberry and Phyllis Peters and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
