Beverly Simmons

YORK-Beverly (Gladfelter) Simmons, 78, of Conewago Township, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at York Hospital.  She was the wife of Sterling E. Simmons. The couple celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on November 3, 2022.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 2-3 p.m. Certified Celebrant Amy Favorito will be officiating at the service.

Mrs. Simmons was born in York on July 26, 1945, the daughter of the late Daniel and Dorothy (Bixler) Gladfelter. She retired from Weis Markets, where she worked in the deli in York.

Mrs. Simmons was a member of Dover United Church of Christ. She was a member of West York VFW ladies auxiliary. She also enjoyed playing BINGO as well as going to the casino.

Along with her husband, Mrs. Simmons leaves a son, Craig Simmons and his wife Debra of York; a daughter Jessica Eyler and her husband Anthony of York; four grandchildren, Kacey Smallwood, Brys Eyler, Brianna Eyler, and Seth Eyler; and four great grandchildren, Kylie, Zalen, Ashton, and Lorelie. She also leaves a brother, Jeff Gladfelter; and two sisters, Cathy Jackson and JoAnn Kendrick. She was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Gladfelter and a sister, Susan Sponseller.
