Betty L. Lacy

Betty travelled into the light and the pure love of eternal life on November 19, 2017. She was held by her devoted husband of 60 years, Richard “Dick” Lacy, and surrounded by her daughter Susan and partner Catherine Fry as she began her journey home. Betty was 82 years old, born on February 12, 1935 in Fullerton, PA. She graduated from Whitehall HS in Allentown, PA and continued studies at Moore Institute of Art, Traphagan School of Fashion and various technical schools during her successful career as a draftsman and data analyst at GTE. Many enjoyed her artistic gifts including fashion drawings, flower arrangements, singing in musicals, the Frantic Follies, gourmet meals and famous Christmas cookies. Betty was a Stephen’s Minister and was involved in many other ministries at Aldersgate UMC. She was also active with the Young Women’s Club, the Festival of Trees and served as the Secretary at SpiriTrust Village at Sprenkle Drive where she eventually resided in skilled care as she struggled with Alzheimer’s. Betty is preceded in death by parents Andrew and Marguerite Bower and brothers John Coppersmith and Andrew Bower and survived by husband Richard, daughter Susan and daughter-in-law Catherine, granddaughters Alisha and Dionna, grandson Jason (Marika), great granddaughter Elaine, nephews Michael (Donna) and David (Betty) Coppersmith and niece Jolly (Tinker) Coppersmith. Betty stood up for what she believed in and lovingly had the nickname “Energizer Bunny.” A Celebration of Life Tribute service will be held at 5:00 PM Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A visitation will be held from 4-5:00 PM Saturday at the Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Assoc., P.O.
