Bernice Louise Metz

YORK-Bernice Louise “Bea” (Knighton) Metz, 90, passed away on Tuesday, January, 29, 2019 at The Haven at Springwood in York. She was the loving wife of Frank L. Metz, Jr., who passed away on October 23, 1983. They were married for 34 years. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 10-11 a.m. Certified Celebrant Betty Frey will be officiating at the service. Burial will be private in Prospect Hill Cemetery in York. Bea was born in York on June 27, 1928, a daughter of the late William and Grace (Mummert) Knighton. She worked for Dentsply, Bendix Corporation, Marie Louise Beauty Shop, and retired from Hayshire Medical Center, where she was an office manager for over 35 years. Bea enjoyed collecting Boyds Bears, Longaberger baskets, playing Bingo, bowling and doing craft projects. She loved spending time with her family and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Bea is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Miller and her husband, Joseph and a son, Robert Metz. She was the proud grandmother of William, Brandon and his wife Heather, April, Amber, Colby and Rainbow. Also, great grandchildren, Madeline and Mackenzie and nephews, Clarence and Kevin. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Young and Gladys Knighton and a brother, William Knighton.
