Barbara M. Weiss POTTSVILLE-Barbara M. Weiss, 74, of Pottsville, went to be with the lord on Saturday evening, surrounded by her loving family at her residence. Born in Pottsville on November 3, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Kathryn Klitch Hauptly. She was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School and a graduate of Sacred Heart Nursing School, Allentown. She was a registered nurse for 45 years at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville, most recently in the pediatric department until she retired. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Carl L. Weiss, who passed away October 28, 2004. She is survived by her three sons, Michael , his girlfriend Joan Hess, of Pottsville, Charles, husband of Kathy, of Minersville and Stephen Weiss, husband of Deborah, of Schuylkill Haven; her five daughters, Kathleen Fessler, wife of David, of Lebanon, Jane Hittner, wife of Donald, of Olean, NY, Sandy Clauser, wife of Kevin, of Pottsville, Ann Marie Spece, wife of Carl, of Schuylkill Haven and Jennifer McDemus, wife of Rich, of Pottsville; 17 Grandchildren; her three brothers, Gerald Hauptly, of Fanwood, PA, William Hauptly, of Morgantown, PA and Alfred Hauptly, of Pottsville; her five sisters, Rose Shaffer, of Baltimore, MD, Agnes Weber, of New Haven, CT, Sister Alfredine Hauptly, of Williamsport, Laura Andrews, of Souderton, PA and Marie Plasha, of Sinking Spring; many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville. The Rev. David J. Loeper will officiate. Friends may call on Tuesday evening at the Church from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. There will be no calling hours on Wednesday morning. Interment will be held in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Pottsville. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 913 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
